The new Sun Mountain Matchplay bags are constructed with 1680D ballistic nylon, a strong, thick and extra durable fabric originally developed as material used in World War II flak jackets. Not surprisingly, the Matchplay bags, which feature a stand and come with either four-way or 14-way divider tops, emphasize rugged sturdiness. That includes a polyurethane coating and BF6 vinyl to reduce abrasion. Sun Mountain’s internal compression bottom provides optimal club space while improving the efficiency of the way the legs deploy when the bag is set down. While the company makes no claims about the bag’s ability to deflect bullets, its cover does repel water. $425 (4-way), $435 (14-way).
