The USGA is rolling out a new privacy option for golfers with an official Handicap Index. On supported apps like GHIN, you can now choose whether you want your full scoring record to be seen by everyone or only members from your golf club(s). This new option can be found under settings and then privacy settings:
If you choose to go more private, only your Handicap Index, Low Handicap Index and club affiliation will be seen by everyone. So you can keep people from seeing just how many rounds you played in July. But if your Handicap Index keeps going down, they're still probably going to think you're playing a lot. Anyway, for more on Handicap Indexes, our "Late Scratch?" series recently touched on what it really means to be a scratch golfer and whether playing certain courses can lower your Handicap Index.
