The LPGA Tour has landed a new event in Asia, and it will have the largest purse for Asian events in its first year.
The Futu Ladies World Championship will be played in Hong Kong in March next year and has a $3.4 million purse. The tournament will be at the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, dubbed the “Pebble Beach of Asia,” and replaces the Blue Bay LPGA tournament that has been played in China since 2014. This year, the tour held three events in Asia over February and March and is scheduled for four more beginning in mid-October. While the PGA Tour finishes up its season on Sunday, the LPGA still has eight official events—sandwiched around the Solheim Cup—after this week’s FM Championship.
