Should Wyndham Clark prevail Sunday at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills G.C. he will join an eclectic group of seven men who have two U.S. Open titles and no other major championships.
The list dates back more than a century, staring with Alex Smith, who won in 1906 and 1910. He was subsequently joined by John McDermott (1911, 1912), Andy North (1978, 1985), Curtis Strange (1988, 1989), Lee Janzen (1993, 1998), Retief Goosen (2001, 2004) and Bryson DeChambeau (2020, 2024). The only player with three U.S. Open titles and no other majors? Hale Irwin, who won in 1974, 1979 and 1990.
