The design firm of Davis Love III, the long-time St. Simons Island, Ga., resident, along with lead architect Scot Sherman, oversaw the modifications, which included full-turf replacement, restoration of original green sizes and dunes that had shifted over time, plus the addition of 152 yards for tournament play.
The biggest changes came at the 10th hole with the green moved back 20 yards. A new back tee was also added on the 15th hole, plus the green was shifted toward the water and lowered slightly.
The work started in May in a next stage of a 2025 project that included fairway-bunker renovations and main-line irrigation installation. The Seaside course is 45th on our most recent ranking of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses. Tom Fazio took nine holes from Charles Alison and nine holes from Joe Lee to build an entirely new 18 holes in 1999. The 2026 RSM Classic will be contested Nov. 19-22.
