Pro golf is returning to Hawaii’s Kapalua Resort in 2027.

On Monday, the LPGA Tour announced the Lotte Championship, won by Jeeno Thitikul on Sunday, will be moving from Hoakalei Country Club, where it has been held since 2022, to Kapalua’s Plantation Course. The date of the event is also moving from October to March to coincide with the Nanea Cup, a new LPGA tournament coming to the Big Island that will feature LPGA and college players. This will allow for a two-week Hawaiian stretch that will follow the LPGA's early year Asian swing.

From 1999 to 2025, Kapalua played host to the PGA Tour’s season-opening Tournament of Champions event, but tour officials postponed the event in 2026 due to water issues with the course. Then, in April, the tour announced it was ending the Maui tournament altogether with the coming change to its two-tiered series format. In 2008, the LPGA held a tournament at the Bay Course at Kapalua.
