“Hole designs dictated by the terrain and limited earth-moving from a time gone by. Several green complexes utilize a front shelf feature. No. 17 green with a perfectly formed circle encompassed precisely by circular low mounding… odd."

“Unique layout with a mix of modern design and original 20's style golf architecture. Conditioning good overall - mature trees with narrow fairways makes the course challenging, along with many holes that require shots that carry false fronts on greens. The course is a pleasant walk and the look and feel of the entire property give a strong impression of the club's commitment to classic overall golf course design."

“The course provides a balance of flat, hilly, short and long. Interesting bunkers and greens, especially the unique "sugar bowl" on #17. Deep in tradition as the home course of 1964 U.S. Am champion Bill Campbell and Marshall University. There is a Campbell Room in the clubhouse which houses memorabilia."

“Venerable club has seen better days, but the bones are fantastic. Don't say no if given an invite to play, however. And when the greens are rolling well, bring your 'A' game or you'll be in for a long day."
