“Very hilly terrain highlight this public course in Front Royal, VA approximately 1 hour west of Washington, DC. The course possesses relatively flat green complexes but are well protected. Many tee boxes force you to consider multiple clubs in which to navigate the hole. Uphill and blind tee shots as well as a robust 7300 yard track from the back tees helps add to the challenge. An extremely fair test of golf from the middle tee boxes helps create a very memorable round. Some challenging and thought provoking holes await you - especially on the back 9 which forces you to think your way around the course."

“Blue Ridge Shadows is a wild course that meanders over some interesting terrain, with many fairly significant elevation changes. Nonetheless, the course is walkable, though the walk is not necessarily easy. The large hills and valleys clearly presented a course design challenge, and it was difficult to overcome, particularly on the back nine. Some holes are inexplicable and require exacting shots and the routing is rather strange. However, the overall experience is interesting and the golf can be fun from the right tee box."
