“I found the course to challenging but fair, with well-designed fairway bunkers. The course was in good shape but not firm and fast. I think the firmness would be there except in the middle of the summer. Beautiful layout, some very large greens with many challenging hole location options. The Par 3's provides a great variety of distances and challenging greens complexes. I could play this course every day. Great range, short game area and 9 hole putting course right in front of the club house."

“Bayville is located in Virginia Beach, VA. The bermuda fairways and greens were in pristine condition as was the rest of course. A very well manicured course. The course has some of the largest greens I've played. The mounding and platforms provided for outstanding pin placements. The fairways are relatively wide. But, you can drive it into trouble on certain holes. The Par 3s vary from 149 yds to 230 yds. The short 149 yd 5th is my favorite. The down hill tee shot with water right to a deep narrow green is a beautiful hole. The Par 5s vary little in distance (570, 549, 565 and 567). But, they vary in direction and the bunkers are strategically placed for both 2nd and 3rd shots. Course had solid Par 4s, including the sharp DLL opening hole with a bunker and trees at the corner - good risk/reward. Other standout Par 4s include long 7th with a rolling fairway and green sloping L to R, the 8th that requires a shot to a perched green with flatforms on back L and back R of green. The Par 4 10th is a sharp DLR to sloping fairway with great FW bunkering. The Par 4 14th is also an excellent hole that requires an accurate tee shot to a slightly elevated green. This is an immaculately maintained course that is fun to play."

“Recent renovation by Andrew Green has been a great upgrade to this course, really taking advantage of the landscape/terrain and the great location in Virginia Beach. Par 3’s with deep narrow greens add variety to those holes and the par 4’s annd 5’s offer a challenge with numerous shot options and challenges. Upgrades to clubhouse are fantastic and the staff is very accommodating and attentive. Definitely worth playing if you get the invitation."

“Nice conditions but several of the holes are just ordinary. Typical Fazio where not a lot of design variety and holes kind of run together"

“Fazio did a very commendable job on this flat piece of property."

“This course opens with a replica of TPC Harding Park's 18th hole with a decision from the first shot: challenging angle cut-off versus carry over water, sand and trees to the left. Fazio has created a charming design with rippling fairways, deeply crafted fescue-lined bunkers (both sand and grass) and pine needle mulched areas reminiscent of Carolina designs a few hours to the southwest. The Bobby Jones shaved walking paths to and from tee boxes weave through waist-deep fescue that seem to swallow up an aesthetically deserted fishing boat near the 3rd tee box. Three heavy rough covered church pews emerge in a 100-yard long bunker that separates opposite running par 5s at holes #4 & #6 which create a visually stimulating opening third of this golf course. However, besides the beautiful lake-wrapping 11th and 12th holes, the distinctiveness and layout variety seem to lose steam over the closing dozen holes."

“A fun course to play. Some challenging holes, especially with the wind blowing, as many play across or along the water in Virginia Beach. Staff was very accommodating. Definitely worth playing if you get the invitation."
