Overview
The Club at Carlton Woods’ championship course from Tom Fazio opened in 2005, a few years after its Jack Nicklaus course opened. The Fazio course at Carlton Woods is routed over steep and dramatic elevation changes with fairways set among the dense native woodlands of the Spring Creek bluffs. Fazio’s design is the harder of the two courses and features challenging green complexes guarded by an array of creeks, streams and ponds. Water comes into play on eight of 18 holes, with perhaps the most dramatic example guarding the front of the 445-yard par-4 18th. In 2016, the region was hit with intense flooding, which damaged many of the course's bunkers and led to their permanent removal as remediation for future damage.

“Member and guest service is the #1 priority at The Club at Carlton Woods. From the time you enter the property until the time you leave, there is always someone close by to assist in making your experience at Carlton Woods second to none. The Fazio course is meticulously maintained and offers a variety of short, medium and long holes with fairways that run firm and fast. The greens are firm and roll true, accepting a well-played shot from the fairway, yet requires one to control their ball when playing from the rough. Carlton Woods is a must play in the Houston, TX area."

“Carlton Woods Fazio presents a number of short, medium and long holes to challenge all parts of the game. The generous fairways play firm and fast. The greens are firm, accepting a well-played shot from the fairway but requires control of one's ball when playing from the rough. The greens roll true with speeds stemped at 11+, requiring shots played to the proper level to avoid significant runout from the undulating surfaces from the first putt."

“Carlton Woods Fazio is set on great grounds for golf: a huge parcel of land with rolling hills, creeks/streams/ponds, cut through native woodlands. The course provides strong variety given all of these natural features, but also because of its excellent short par 4's, beefy par 4.5's, strong variety of par-3 holes, and strong risk/reward par 5 holes. The aesthetics were similarly inspiring but the greens and surrounds were more dynamic and strategic than other Fazio courses I have played. Conditioning was excellent. Despite recent rainfall, the fairways and greens held up beautifully, playing firm, fast and smooth."

“Very good course in better than good condition pretty much year round. Greens as good as it gets, and zoysia fairways are amazing. If you can find your way on, I would recommend it."

“Big boned championship style course. Conditions allow the ball to roll out and utilize slopes. Course requires different shot shapes throughout your round. Great place to spend a day!!!"

“Course is great with a variety of holes in varying length, difficulty and risk/reward opportunities. Not many players on the course so it makes for a great round!"
