Overview
Located about 100 miles outside Dallas, Pine Dunes is a hidden gem in a secluded part of East Texas. For less than $100 during peak season, golfers can experience this unique Jay Morrish layout—our Architecture Editor Emeritus Ron Whitten said “there’s nothing else like it in Texas.” Sandy waste areas with pines transport you to the Pinehurst area, and the design doesn’t feature many forced carries or water hazards, making it playable for all levels.

“Was not excited driving up. Very surprised. Nothing like Texas golf courses. Good conditions. Very good course with 2 holes not my favorites. Definity a Morrish design, which means it is Very good. Clubhouse atmosphere like a muni, nothing special. Really could use GPS on the golf carts for new players and clubhouse player control."

“A great round for solitude. Interesting track with sandy waste areas. Heavily wooded off fairways makes for tough tee shots, otherwise the green complexes are very manageable."

“A really great place for a buddies trip. Inexpensive lodging and green fees and a world class golf course. Very no frills lodging but nothing beats sitting out around the grill overlooking the 18th green while cooking your steaks on the grill."
