Overview
Located 30 minutes from downtown San Antonio in the forested Texas hills sits Briggs Ranch, which opened in 2001 and was later purchased by the Dormie Network in 2017. The Tom Fazio design offers wide, undulating Zoysia fairways that lead to well-protected greens with penal false fronts. Fazio encourages risk-taking throughout the round, rewarding aggressive lines off the tee with scoring chances at multiple reachable par 5s and drivable par 4s. The greens at Briggs Ranch offer the course its best defense with firm and quick surfaces often running away from players and into deep collection areas or tricky bunkers.

“Golf course is in good condition. The greens are very challenging for approach shots as many have false fronts and sides that fall away from the green surface."

“The green complexes are what make this course fun and challenging. Course knowledge is a factor with several backstops and sidehills around greens that will funnel balls to specific spots. Can be a benefit or disaster depending on where the pin is located that day. Only one hole with water but it comes into play as the fairway slopes right to it. Be too aggressive and you'll get wet, even if you hit it straight. The back 9 was very fun with a couple reachable Par 4's and reachable Par 5's. If you can navigate the greens, you'll have plenty of opportunities to score. Very enjoyable course in the Texas Hill Country. If you've got a friend that's a member of Dormie Network, this is one to try to get an invite to. Very few groups on the course so pace of play is not an issue."

“The land movement and scale of this course is memorable. Interesting and varied green complexes, and a challenging layout for the better player while still being playable for the less skilled golfer makes this an enjoyable course to play. The routing is not intimate and use of all the land is done which helps the golfer feel more secluded on the property. Plays firm and fast."

“Loved Briggs Ranch. So many great holes. It has some very different types of holes and it definitely is a place you would not get tired of playing because of all of the shot options. Having Texas Longhorns you can feed and pet was super cool!!"

“The greens complexes at Briggs Ranch are the stars of this wild west show. Several are reminiscent of the wonderful greens at Bandon Trails and Bandon Preserve, large, beautifully sculpted putting surfaces framed by bunkers that are placed in just the right positions to make you think twice about getting aggressive. As with any Fazio-designed course, the Fun Factor is high at Briggs Ranch, especially on the back nine."

“Wonderful topography and use of the hills in the routing. Loved the drivable par 4 on the back 9 with the risk and reward. Back 9 par 5s offer lots of shotmaking variety. Really well done for the distinctiveness on this course!"
