Overview

About 30 minutes north of Chattanooga, this Jack Nicklaus layout plays out on a peninsula on Chickamauga Lake, which surrounds the property on three sides. Despite the lake setting, water does not come into play on many holes—instead the defense comes from tall stately pines. With few forced carries, wide fairways, and the ability to run the ball up onto most greens, the course is playable for all golfers. In the warmer months, it’s common to see boats populating the surrounding lake.

“Solid effort and a good value for the money. Good views of Harrison Bay, but other than the views the course doesn't interact with the bay other than on the par three 14th."

“Nice property on the Tennessee Rive with many river views. Very few forced carries. Big greens with not many "Nicklaus bunkers" in front of greens. Played in December but could tell conditions were very good. Good grass cover and greens were very playable."

“Bear Trace at Harrison Bay is a state park course that is worth a visit. The conditions were great with fast greens and generous Bermuda fairways. There are some great views of the lake, and it is wonderful setting in the pine and oak trees of eastern Tennessee. Affordable for the conditions and the setting. I will surely make the trip again."
