“Brookside Golf and Country Club, nestled in Columbus, Ohio, is a Charles Lorms gem crafted in 1927 and thoughtfully revitalized by Brian Silva in 2021. Known for its classic design, this course carries a vintage charm with its engaging doglegs, challenging blind shots, firm and fast greens, and a layout that brings out the best in a golfer’s strategic thinking. The greens are compact yet roll exceptionally well, rewarding precise play while presenting unique opportunities for creative shot-making. With its deep bunkers, variety of hole locations, and meticulously maintained fairways, Brookside Golf and Country Club presents a dynamic experience that varies in difficulty with every round. Several standout holes make Brookside a must-play for golf enthusiasts: Hole 8 (Par 4): This long par 4 is known for its challenging fairway and tricky approach. A dogleg bend with deep bunkers requires players to carefully select their club off the tee. The green is well-protected and demands precision for a successful shot, setting the stage for an exhilarating experience. Hole 9 (Par 4): Another long par 4, Hole 9 tests golfers with a blind approach and a green complex that slopes subtly yet deceptively. Precise distance control is essential here, as the firm green won’t easily hold a ball, especially on a windy day. Hole 13 (Par 4): Perhaps one of Brookside's most memorable holes, this par 4 offers a thrilling tee shot over a ravine, with a creek running along the right side. The drive is uphill, adding an extra layer of challenge as golfers aim for a narrow fairway. This hole is both visually stunning and challenging, rewarding those willing to take risks to find the best approach to the green. Hole 8 (Par 3): Brookside's par 3s shine in their difficulty and beauty. Hole 8 features a green surrounded by bunkers that requires an accurate, well-judged shot. Its layout allows for a range of pin placements, each offering a new challenge. Hole 11 (Par 3): This hole is a brilliant redan-style design that forces players to consider the angle and firmness of their shot. With water lining the left side, it provides a thrilling risk-reward decision for those aiming for the back of the green. The subtle slope on this green adds complexity, making every putt a test of skill and patience. Brookside Golf and Country Club’s classic design and demanding layout make it a true golfer’s course. The variety of clubs required and strategic thinking it encourages ensure a rewarding challenge for players of all levels."

“This course is a well-balanced test of Golf. It gives you many options from the tees as well as around the greens to hit a variety of different shots. It played Firm and fast and I believe is a fair test of golf for an average player all the way up to Pros playing there for the U.S. Open qualifier."

“The 13th hole offers one a heroic tee shot uphill and over a lake w/ a 90 degree dogleg to the right and depending on how much of the lake one takes on a mid to short iron will be left to a green complex guarded by a bunker to the right. 11th hole was added since original layout was put in place, during recent renovation 11th changed to a fun and challenging redan hole over a creek. Recent renovation by Brian Silva with complete bunker remodel, tree removal, tee addition to add length. Approximately 40-50 yds was added to the par 5 16th hole and a tee adding approximately 80 yds adjacent to the club's extra par 3 hole(replaced by 11th) that one will hit over the green & ravine. Layout variety very good overall in terms of hole directions and different shapes of holes but also suffers a bit as all par 3's are long, 3 of which requiring the same club. Site of US Open Sectional qualifier."

“A great challenge for serious golfers with rewards for outstanding play without punishing poor shots too severely. A true player's club with outstanding practice facilities and friendly, welcoming atmosphere. There are better-known courses in Columbus; Brookside should be considered among them. Do not miss if invited."

“A very good 1920’s country club that has been updated in 2021 with vastly improved bunkering and re-design of a pair of weaker holes to much better holes. It’s an easy course to play bogey golf, pars are good and birdies require very good shots and putts."

“This is certainly not the Brookside in Canton. While they may share a name, this one is not the same caliber. The course is old and tight, hopefully the restoration will return some wider corridors with room to play."

“Good enough to be the last change to qualify for the US Open annually on the Monday after the Memorial. Tight wooded tall rough small quick greens. Everything one would find while trying to get in an Open."
