“West Point is a fascinating mountain course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1948 near the Military Academy's campus. The course is not long at just over 6000 yards, but is a very rigorous test with its wild elevation changes and tight, forested terrain. One of the highlights of the course is the conditioning, which is strong for a public course, especially the greens which were firm and very fast. The greens are also diabolically difficult due to the very slopy terrain they lie on. I wonder if the course may be too challenging for the majority of public golfers, but the views afforded here and good value make it well worth a play for skilled players in the area."
