“Teugega is a classic Donald Ross design, playable, interesting, walkable and therefore fun to play. Consistent with a Ross design, the Layout Variety is excellent. In particular, the back nine is beautifully routed through the rolling terrain. The course has been well preserved by its membership and therefore rates highly for Character. Not overly long by modern standards, the course could be less challenging for the better player."

“There are not many hidden gems left in 2025, but I certainly left Teugega in upstate NY feeling like I had just discovered one. Teugega is quite unique as a course that Donald Ross clearly spent a lot of time and effort at but was never really renovated or redesigned. Donald Ross even made his first career hole-in-one as a player on the 7th hole! The end result is a course a bit rough around the edges (not helped by recent storm damage), but one with a superb set of greens and a whole lot of quirk and charm. The greens in particular are some of the finest and most interesting I've ever seen and certainly contribute to the course's high character score. Teugega is walkable and highly enjoyable throughout, but I particularly enjoyed the back 9, which uses the rollicking terrain to its advantage with some wonderful and unique holes at 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16 that could certainly be highlights on many of Ross' better known projects. The membership should be quite proud to call Teugega home and this is a course well-worth seeing if given the opportunity."

“Teugega is an untouched Donald Ross design in every sense of the phrase. Great green complexes (Hole #3, Hole #7, Hole #15) with strategic bunkering off the tee that impact sight lines (Hole #4, Hole #14). The greens could have been faster/firmer as putts did not hold their line and fairways were sparce/uneven. The course does not hold up to modern technology (mainly fairway bunkers are completely irrelevant off the tee) but the charm is there in everyway."

“Teugega is a great walk, the trips from greens to tees are short and the greens have interesting contours that keep players guessing when faced with longer putts. The 9th and 18th holes are both backed by views of Delta Lake that still can’t distract from the unique mounding around and extending into their respective greens."
