Overview
Meadow Brook is a Dick Wilson design on the North Shore of Long Island. It exudes some significant character and features a lot of interesting characteristics that make it unique, especially from the 1950s era of architecture. Among the unique features at Meadow Brook are huge greens, which are among the biggest in the country, and the fact that 10 of these holes play as dogleg lefts with only several holes including the stellar short par-4 15th breaking from this mold. The course is in fantastic firm, fast condition and is aesthetically very pleasing, reminding one panelist of nearby Bethpage Black with its fescue and rolling landforms.

“Meadow Brook gets overshadowed a bit from a national perspective, but High IQ Long Island golfers know Meadow Brook belongs in the same tier as Piping Rock and The Creek. If there weren't so many dogleg lefts, the course would score highly in design variety and probably be a top 150 course. Even still, it should be in the conversation for our top 200."

“10 left doglegs versus 2 right doglegs. 8 of the doglegs are inside bunkering. Favors uphill approach shots throughout. Greenside shapes and bunkering surrounds I thought were nicely varied however the putting slopes were incredibly straight to allow for quick greens. Little character to the course as the overall theme is the 50-60s architecture of thinner fairways, longer rough. Greens that are very flat don't add any interest to the round other than being nice to putt on. There's been focus on tree removal and additions of fescue around the grounds but there is more work to do as there are many rough areas out of play that are manicured."

“Dick Wilson design on a gigantic property. Many of the par 4's run together and are unmemorable. There are more cross bunkers here than any other Wilson design which is a positive. The par 3's are the best of the bunch especially the Redan like number 6. Number 5 is a bad short par 4 where bunkers are way right and the tee box pushes you there. It's very contrived. There are a few good dogleg par 4's, but again they are very similar."

“The fairways were full fast and hard, the greens receptive, quick, and true. Drivable par 4 5th hole and elevation change."

“Meadow Brook is a Dick Wilson design on the North Shore of Long Island. It exudes some significant character and features a lot of interesting characteristics that make it unique, especially from the dead era of golf architecture in the 1950s. Among the unique features at Meadow Brook are huge greens, which are among the biggest in the country, and the fact that 10 of these holes play as dogleg lefts with only several holes including the stellar short par 4 15th breaking from this mold. While quite unique and memorable, I will say that so many dogleg lefts with bunkers at the dogleg does diminish variety a bit. The course is in fantastic firm, fast condition and is aesthetically very pleasing, reminding me of nearby Bethpage Black with its fescue and rolling landforms."
