“Glens Falls Golf Club in upstate New York is a beautifully challenging course designed nearly 100 years ago by the esteemed Donald Ross design firm. This par-70 course showcases Ross’s vision with its demanding layout, highlighted by a series of difficult par-4 holes, several stretching over 450 yards. The course’s fast and firm fairways enhance the excitement and strategy of every round, offering a test of skill across its varied and dramatic terrain. The course’s layout includes a fascinating blend of both traditional and modern design elements. Ten holes feature spacious, flatter greens that give a slightly more contemporary feel, while the remaining eight boast classic Ross characteristics—elevated greens, sweeping undulations, and the notable “chocolate drop” mounds that add historic charm. This contrast creates a unique character, with parts of the course offering a more polished experience while other areas feel delightfully rough around the edges, enhancing its charm. Players are met with an array of shot options, with long, challenging fairways, deep bunkers, and intricate green complexes demanding precise approaches. The course’s conditioning stands out, with both fairways and greens kept in excellent shape. Yet, the greatest test for many will be the terrain, as the course’s significant elevation changes require both physical endurance and strategic shot planning. With its unusual blend of hole designs, dynamic shot-making opportunities, and stunning yet challenging natural landscape, Glens Falls Golf Club remains a memorable, rewarding experience for golf enthusiasts who appreciate both the game’s history and a strong challenge."

“Wonderful course -- great Ross design on a small but undulating property. Great variety of holes -- Glens Falls has been under the radar for many years but is one of Ross' best!"

“An under-the-radar and mostly untouched Donald Ross gem, Glens Falls is a special Club with one of the most fun and interesting courses I've seen. The course is routed spectacularly up and around steep hills and features numerous blind shots that require local knowledge. Glens Falls features several world-class holes (2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 11, 17) and even the holes that may seem less memorable initially such as 5 feature undulating and very interesting greens that contribute to character. The course interestingly closes on a par 3, which feels more like a Bye hole, and I wonder if it would benefit from closing with the 17th, one of the best par fours in New York. There's not much around Glens Falls and the season is very short, but this is a course well-worth traveling to and the very definition of a hidden gem."

“An excellent Donald Ross design with an outstanding variety of well-contoured, multi-tiered greens that provide resistance to scoring when firm and fast. One of the better courses that I have played in New York state. However, course is probably overlooked due to remote location and stiff competition from many other outstanding courses in New York state. More trees need to be removed to improve shot angles and conditioning."
