“Very good golf course that uses slopes and mounding instead of fairway bunkers. Excellent Par threes with high variety. Would really love to the see the ball bounce around those hills with some width in the fairways and less rough to allow the ball to roll into / around the fescue mounds."

“Really good Walter Travis design. The Brian Schneider restoration is really well done. The green complexes are lovely and very interesting. The exposed rock is a nice touch on some of the holes climbing the hill in the back of the property."

“* No fairway bunkering throughout the course until 18 where there are a number of bunkers along the tree lined fairway. Odd placement considering the rest of the course uses the land and slope of fairway to increase its challenge. The starts right off the 1st hole. Another commonality is playing up and over a rise in the fairway. * There are a few oddly placed flat greens especially notable on the back 9 par 3's that seem different than the rest of the Travis greens. * No more than 9 irons into many of the par 4's and with no fairway bunkering, there is opportunity for the good player to go low on a course like this despite some wavy greens. Par 3's all play to a similar yardage around 150-160 with 3/4 par 5's played in similar direction starting from the clubhouse."

“Should be higher on most lists. Lots of rolling terrain and awesome green complexes that make you think on every single approach shot. This also adds a lot of variety on how a hole can play from day to day. The only knock is the course lacks risk vs. reward options off the tee. Most par 4s and 5s are very straight forward tee shots."

“The recent renovations and tree removal have opened up a fantastic piece of property with an incredible Walter Travis golf course that has been hidden for years."

“A classic Walter Travis design wonderfully restored by Brian Schneider in recent years, North Jersey Country Club is a dramatic and memorable course featuring wild elevation changes, lots of blind shots, and perhaps the toughest set of greens in New Jersey (which are very difficult to read and are quite speedy). The land and aesthetics of the course remind me a lot of Myopia Hunt in Massachusetts and North Jersey is a very underrated course at the moment."
