“the scorecard says Hale Irwin’s Minnesota Masterpiece and who am I to disagree. This was a solid routed track on some very nice terrain. This was the first Irwin course I played and was impressed. A few miles from the Mississippi River the course had holes carved out of the woods and then some along water features and some holes in the open. It was part of a housing community, and the homes were set back far enough that it didn’t intrude. The course had a handful of forced carries and some very good green complexes. All in all I can see why it is in the top 25 in the State. The length on the par 3’s were similar on each side – the front was 159 and 163 and the back was 209 and 247, which was downhill. So, a club or two longer. The difficulty was the length on some of the par 4s – four longer than 461 yards and even from the up tee’s they were all 446 yards or longer. I liked the 10th at 421 yards – that was a semi cape from the elevated tee box w/ water left and then the green had a pond to its right. I also enjoyed the 13th at 368 yards that was tree lined and slight dog right and uphill. A feature I liked was bunkers in the fairway or off to the side that were not up to green but 15 yards or so short."

“Course was obviously routed to set up one gorgeous view on 18. The rest of the course is forgettable and difficult."
