Overview
A quality public track just west of the Twin Cities, Rush Creek has plenty of design variety, with elevation changes, deep bunkers and well-placed hazards creating a challenging yet enjoyable round. The scenic layout hosted an LPGA Tour event in the late 1990s and was the site of Ryan Moore’s second U.S. Amateur Public Links title in 2004.

“Shot options: A few holes with good shot options, and a number of holes that require the right shot; Hole by Hole comments:Hole #1: hit drive far, but need to show care on approach with narrow green; Hole #2: good risk/reward if going for green in 2, green is narrow; Hole #3: pin placement on right side is harder, good undulations on green; Hole #4: plenty of options of tee, must hit proper 2nd shot with elevated green; Hole #5: need straight drive, otherwise straightforward; Hole #6: need straight drive, but have options of how far to hit it so set up comfortable short iron into very shallow green; Hole #7: solid par 3, but straightward; Hole #8: requires very good approach shot.; Hole #9: requires very good approach shot with deep bunkers; Hole #10: great approach shot bunkers make player think; Hole #11: drive is easy, but narrow green makes approach a tester; Hole #12: straightfoward approach, just miss bunkers; Hole #13: multiple options off the tee, but not sure how much they matter, its all about the approach over water in front; Hole #14: great approach shot visuals, requires solid shot with longer iron; Hole #15: not much to this hole; Hole #16: drive is nothing, pin on front right will be tough; Hole #17: requires solid shot on both drive and approach, many options with pin placements; Hole #18: plays similar to Pebble Beach #18 with water all along left side, just need to keep in play to the right. ; : Challenge: ; Layout variety: just like I rated lower on Character, it has quite a wide variety; Aesthetics: its fun playing around the water hazards, and through the trees, but the open holes next to farmland or houses isn't that much. ; Conditioning: for a dry summer, this course was far too wet. Ballmarks on greens were like landing in puddles; Character: This course has 3 personalities: 1) winding through the marsh, playing through the woods and playing in a cornfield. First one is quite good, last one isn't good. ; Fun: I enjoy the course, as it has enough holes to keep my attention. But for lesser players, like my wife, it isn't that great."

“Public course in the Twin Cities with very distinct holes. Could really be a great course. Unfortunately it's always been soft and overwatered whenever I play."
