“The Pines at Lake Isabella used to host the Michigan Publinx Match Play. The layout is enjoyable as from the back tees, it presents a good challenge for a lower handicap player, and the forward tees make it much more manageable for the average golfer. Good mix of holes cut through the pines (hence the name) and some with water. Signature hole is #15, a Par 5 that sets up along the lake with an elevated tee that provides a great view. Good mix of short and long par 5s and 3s. Would rate it higher but it's seen it's better days. I played it in August and the greens were slow, fairways patchy. It's not a course worth going out of the way to play, but for those playing at the nearby resort (St. Ives / Tullymore), not a bad option for a 2nd 18 round that is pretty low cost."
