Overview
Donald Ross told the founding members of this new club that you have the “most wonderful piece of property I have ever seen,” while executing a redesign of their Tom Bendelow course. Subsequently, three generations of the Michigan-born Matthews family architects have worked on the course. There isn’t much Ross left, but what is there is very good, and the course is one of the most enjoyable walks in Michigan, built on gently rolling sand dunes just a mile from Lake Michigan. While not long, the greens have serious movement and require good shot-making, and several short par fours prove to be highlights. Tall fescue along some holes gives it an old-world feel.

“This course was a pleasure to play. It was challenging as well as fun at the same time. It gave a player multiple options on all aspects of the game, driving, approach shots, as well as around the Green. it has been well looked after by its superintendent and plays Firm and fast. Even though it has been constantly worked on, it still feels like a Ross original at heart."

“I love this Ross gem. It is built on sandy soil so it drains well and is fast and firm. The greens and surrounds are just terrific. I have played the course about a dozen times and play it whenever I am in town."

“This qualifies as a hidden gem. This Ross course has not been tampered with much. It isn't long but it is demanding off the tee and has great green-sites. If you can get on, play it."

“A fantastic Ross design near the west coast of Michigan. A very strategic course, demanding well executed shots. The course conditioning is outstanding with very firm and fast fairways and greens. This however makes it difficult so is more likely to be enjoyed most by the better player. Clubhouse is going under renovation for new bar and restaurant due to new corporate ownership group."
