Overview
Donald Ross’ routing makes good use of some interesting contouring while also offering nice views of Mount Wachusett and the nearby reservoir. About 45 minutes west of Boston, Wachusett Country Club actually sits closer to the borders of Connecticut and Rhode Island than Boston. It’s still worth considering this fourth-generation, privately owned public course in your Boston itineraries.

“Wachusett CC is something unique to New England, an engaging, affordable Donald Ross course about 50 miles from a major city. At roughly $70 to play, this is one of the best deals in Massachusetts. The course is not quite as dynamic as the Ross private classics in Boston, but the public player is able to get a great taste for the master's work. Standout holes include the plateau green par three 6th, the wide green at #9, and the great stretch from 11 to 16. Unique here also is the par-three 18th, where you can end your round with a 2 if you hit a good long-iron!"

“A 1927 semi-private Donald Ross design, Wachusett CC may well be one of the best public options in New England. The course features excellent conditions, lightning quick greens, and lots of characteristic Ross features. The course is quite hilly and some holes such as the 3rd offer wonderful views of the surrounding area. Well-worth a play if in the area."
