Overview
Crumpin-Fox is a challenging tree-lined layout in western Massachusetts that plays through the rolling hills. It’s a stern ball-striking test, with holes weaving through dense forest and lots of elevation change. The greens are tricky as well, with tongues and knobs demanding precise distance control. One note of advice: On the tough par-4 18th, play the blind tee shot farther right than you think, as the tee box deceptively aims you too far left.

“Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design set in the mountains of northwestern Massachusetts. Course has some beautiful holes and was in really good shape. The staff here went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Following the round, we ate at the restaurant and the food was really good. Not easy to get to, but if you're in the area, don't miss it."

“It's hard to find a weak scoring category at this architectural delight. Stand alone trees force the player to make decisions (around left/right or over) on more than half the non par 3 holes (1, 7, 10, 14, 16 and twice on 12 and 17 respectively). Shot options are exemplified abound but especially on the opener with 20' hilltop tree begging a faded drive through the gap down inside 125 yards for a challenging birdie chance 1st hole, at the short par four 7th, the left side water lined par five 8th, the 70 yard separate angled tee boxes at 15 and the double pine decision maker par five 17th."

“Crumpin Fox, what a great name! It sits on the border of Mass and Vermont and has hosted many amateur tournaments throughout the years. On a down side, the range is synthetic mats, but after that holy cow this place is amazing. The shop and restaurant are unassuming but comfortable. The staff are amazingly helpful. You'll begin your round with a hard dogleg right that seems pretty straight forward. go straight and have a medium second shot in, or cut the corner with a high fade and have a wedge in your hand. After that, it gets better and better. There's elevated tees, water on a few holes, and a par 5 that baffles the imagination. An elevated tee box to a super narrow fairway that slopes down to the water all the way to the green which sits on the opposite side of the pond. Than you head to the back 9 for a stroll around another pond. The condition is top notch all season. This is a must visit for a road or day trip."
