“One of the best conditioned courses that I’ve played. Having a private membership with a larger budget for maintenance most likely contributes to the excellent conditioning of all areas of the course, particularly the greens. The greens run firm and true while accepting high approach shots. The greens are in my top 5 best greens of all the courses I’ve played. As a Donald Ross course, they have maintained the character of the original design with very few alterations in the 103 years since opening. Raised greens, strategic fairway and greenside bunkers are in keeping with Ross’s style. Several holes have camouflaged landing areas that are also reminiscent of Alister MacKenzie. Several bunkers give the appearance of being greenside but are in fact 40 yards short again utilizing camouflage to fool the unsuspecting golfer into altering their approach shot. This course is in keeping with a Donald Ross style course and the club intends to maintain this."

“Only Donald Ross in central IN. Ingenious routing and use of subtle / limited land movement. Fun to play with lots of birdie opportunities but risks around greens. Some of the best green complexes in the stat."

“these original Donald Ross green complexes are likely the best or 2nd best set of green complexes in the state right with the Ross Course at French Lick. Bunkering condition has fallen behind due to financial distress of club, especially the fairway bunkers. As a result of the green complexes and bunkering/slopes around greens, ones game is equally tested from putting, around the green shots, placing approach shots around certain pin placements, and placing tee shots to angle oneself to provide best chance at pin-seeking on approaches....all while providing multiple ways to play most holes."

“This is not a course that will wow you with visuals or "signature holes." However, the greens are fantastic and there is strategy to playing each hole, starting at the green and working back to the tee. The greens are so good that being out of position can put stress on the golf game. Plays harder than it seems because of that. Overall a fun members course that won't wow you but won't disappoint."
