Overview
Just south of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, Kona Country Club is a straightforward yet scenic public layout, originally designed by William F. Bell. The course plays through a housing development but still offers great views of the Pacific throughout. There are several oceanfront holes, including the par-3 third and 12th, while others wind through stands of palm trees and native brush.

“I was surprised at how good the course was. Views of the ocean were great, several holes playing to or alongside the ocean were wonderful. The houses and condo's distracted from Aesthetics. Good test of golf. A gem for a public golf course."

“A "locals' club designed by William Bell is located several miles outside of downtown Kona. If you are able to pay the "local rate" of $45 this would be an OK track. Paying the "visitor rate" of $195.00 this becomes a less than enjoyable 5+ hour round. The club seems to receive a lot of play and the conditioning is lacking throughout the course. The day that I played the course was very wet which resulted in numerous plugged fairway balls and slower than normal greens. Along with the less than desirable course conditions, the team at KCC made us feel as if we were bothering them by playing their course. Not friendly or helpful at all! I would not spend the tourist dollars to play this course especially when the pace of play is very slow."

“This well conditioned Billy Bell course is in a high rent golf district. It winds it way through housing but the course is pretty solid."

“Kona Country Club has several great holes to test your skills. Great views from all of the holes along the ocean, The Ocean Course is another very good option to play when in the Kona area. The course has under gone a recent renovation and has improved dramatically. The facilities are not great, but over all an enjoyable day."
