“Great restoration work at Timuquana Country Club by Bruce Hepner. Tree thinning has helped shot options, while not overly widening the course. Maintenance and presentation of the green complexes are great as well. Two wonderful short Par 4s (#3 and #11) really showcase the shot options and layout variety of the course. They pair well with two very challenging long Par 4s on each side (#7 and #17). The Par 3s at Timuquana range from 155-240 yards from the green tees, but are all very challenging holes."

“With a recent Bruce Hepner restoration, Timuquana has effectively restored the challenge of a wonderful Donald Ross course. That's what it was before a couple of others tried to make it better but did not. There's hardly any elevation change but the course twists and turns wonderfully over the property. There are plenty of wonderful challenges including the short 3d, a par 4, where the landing area for the approach shot seems little more than a hula hoop. The par 3's are well-bunkered and challenging. The course requires precision not brute strength, and each little miss presents a substantial up-and-down challenge."

“Fun course to play with a very classy and traditional club vibe. If the greens are rolling fast, iron shots must be struck perfectly to hold the green. Easy walk, caddies are great, view from the clubhouse patio is one of the best in North Florida."

“Great Donald Ross design. If you played other DR courses you will immediately recognize you are on one. The renovations kept with the Donald Ross vision and just enhanced the playability of the course and updated the aesthetics. Very enjoyable course. Very walkable and has an old school southern charm about it. A course I could play everyday and not get bored."

“Timuquana is a classic layout with well-framed holes and obstacles that can be clearly seen and taken into account when forming a strategy to play each hole. The mature trees generally push the player to take on fairway traps or water hazards. The green complexes were well-bunkered with edges that flowed down into manicured chipping areas. The chipping areas flowed to the next tee box, so the hole spacing was a bit tight in a few places. The fairways and traps were excellent, but the greens were slower than you might expect."

“This Donald Ross design is an enjoyable track that provides varying challenges especially around the greens. The signature Ross greens, most of which are bowl-like, put added importance on placing the approach shot in the right quadrant. The fairways are relatively wide but tree lined, penalizing the golfer for wayward shots left or right on many of the holes. The par 3s are differentiated and challenging with sloped greens and significant traps surrounding them. While it sits adjacent to the St. Johns River, water does not generally come into play, but avoiding the many traps and trees makes up for the lack of water hazards typically found in the top Florida courses. The course is well conditioned, and the relatively flat layout provides an enjoyable walk especially on the finishing holes for each of the nines. In all, the course provides an excellent challenge for golfers at all levels and provides a golfing experience that is within a forested area that is seemingly unimpacted by outside distractions."

“Very firm and fast fairways with elevated, hard, fast greens. Better be able to hit spinning irons or be a good chipper. Very compact and easy to walk. Nice private club. Play if you get invited."
