Overview
The Breakers is one of the most recognizable brands in hospitality. Founded by one of the leading industrialists of the 1800s, Henry Flagler, The Breakers has been a go-to destination for those seeking sun and luxury since then. There are two golf courses associated with The Breakers: The Ocean Course, which was designed by Alexander Findlay in 1897 and renovated in 2018 by Rees Jones. It’s a shorter course, tipping out at 5,778 yards, that sits right along by the beach. Jones also returned to The Breakers in 2022 to renovate a course under his name, The Rees Jones Breakers Course, which sits about 10 miles from the resort on land with subtle elevation changes and some gentle contouring in the putting complexes. This is the resort’s championship layout, measuring 7,104 yards from the tips with six different tee box options.

“The course has some very unique holes especially the horseshoe par 4 ninth. The par 3's are also solid. Very beautiful neighborhood and solid course conditions."

“The layout of the golf course was great. The holes moved left to right and right to left in no discernible order. While the front nine was a little more strategic compared to vast back nine, every club in the bag had to used. The fairways were not wet, but did not have a lot of roll and the greens were true, but not very receptive, even to short iron shorts from the fairway. The bunkers were some of the best I have played from in South Florida in quite some time. They were compact, but soft and allowed for different shots out of the sand. Overall, the course was enjoyable to play with lots of lakes, gators, and other wildlife to look at. They did a great job laying out the course with the land available. The front nine could have been a little more player friendly, but it helped to increase the challenge aspect of the course."

“Course flows well through property. Pretty straight forward holes, nothing terribly exciting nor major thinking required. Greens very slow for the size and shapes, could be sped up to up the challenge. Good use of water to challenge some tee shots."

“Open in Dec. ‘23 after renovation, it plays from 7104-3882 yds. With a 74.8/146 rating. Green settings are challenging with water coming into play on 11 holes and on 5 holes if the ball isn’t on the green, it is in the water. The fairways and greens have grown in nicely and is in excellent condition"

“Nice layout, great greens and conditioning overall. Very challenging from the back two sets of tees. Clubhouse is a bit dated."
