Overview
Indian Creek was built in 1930 on an island north of Miami Beach created with sand dredged from Biscayne Bay. William Flynn designed the course at the center of the island with estate homes ringing the perimeter along the water--the massive Mediterranean-style clubhouse opens toward a heroic, unimpeded southern view of downtown Miami. Over the decades drainage issues arose, and a renovation by Flynn's former associate Dick Wilson along with other incremental tinkering had taken the shine off the original architecture. A 2022 rebuild by Andrew Green corrected the drainage problems leaving a dry and racy design with fairways that rise into elevated greens and banks left and right around bunkers that more closely resemble what Flynn originally designed. The standout hole has always been the long par-3 12th playing from a high tee over a cove of water and field of bunkers, but the short par 4s at four and 13 that also play along and inlet of Biscayne Bay called Indian Creek Lake are just as scenic and more thought-provoking. The par 5s at nine and 11 are also worthy of accolades, each gliding into greens situated on panoramic high points. Green's reconstruction of Indian Creeek earned second place in the Golf Digest 2023 Best Renovation awards.

“Fun Flynn course that as renovated by Andrew Green. The bunkering is stout and they come into play on every shot. There are three great short par 4's. Indian Creek is more memorable than most Florida courses. Most holes are doglegs thats lead to mounded and fairly severe greens. The 11th , par 3 is outstanding. The layout reminded me of a "poor man's" Shinnecock."

“Recent full course reno left a course with superb conditions. Greens as good as any in Miami, which is a tough climate to maintain slick greens. Impeccable conditioning and a fun course to walk. A few risk reward approach angles with little trouble for the errant tee shot give a fun course to play day after day. Quick greens with some undulation make the player consider at least a fair chance to get an up and down."

“Indian Creek is a very unique golf course and experience. Set in the middle of a small island, surrounded by "billionaire homes" lies a flat, but interesting course full of history and stories to tell. The course recently underwent a major renovation of its playing surfaces and the result is a fantastically conditioned course that plays firm, fast and true. The terrain is expectedly flat and not full of much elevation changes. It compensates for that with numerous elevated green complexes that are well protected with deep bunkers surrounding many holes. The driving areas are generous and the challenge is mostly around the greens."

“It is difficult not to be wowed by Indian Creek. It sits in an exclusive enclave and boasts some of the best course conditioning in the United States. The course itself is also very good, especially since Andrew Green's 2022 renovation. Green has made the course friendlier to the ground game and made the course look visually spectacular. This is a relatively short layout, which lacks a strong array of longer holes, but a delight to play nevertheless."

“Great golf course! Great conditions! If you ever get an invite, immediate stop what you are doing and grab your clubs. Personally, I really enjoy the ebb and flow of long versus short holes. Dogleg left and right. You will hit every club in your bag. Old school routing where it tests all aspects of your game and not just how far can you hit a golf ball."

“Very challenging approach shots with penal bunkering that surrounds each green. Surprising elevation change for an island that was built in the early 1900's in an otherwise flat area of FL. Design variety is superb w/ difference in holes going uphill/downhill, left to right, right to left, varying distances, and hole directions. 9, 12, 13, "
