Overview
The Patterson Club dates to 1929, when General Electric Co. employees organized a Dining and Social Club with 20 charter members. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed course opened nearly 20 years later in 1947 on a new site in Fairfield, Conn. Today, the course is one of the best in the area, having hosted the state’s Open and Amateur, as well as numerous Metropolitan Golf Association events. The course makes captivating use of the elevation changes, including at the up-and-over finishing hole, where a speed slot can add 40 yards to a well-placed drive.

“An enjoyable round from start to finish, with interesting blind shots, great green complexes, and a great collection of par 3s. If you have the chance to play this (especially post-restoration work), take the chance. Not only is the course well maintained and designed, but the hospitality is excellent and everyone greets you with a smile. The clubhouse has a number of large rooms for dining, drinks, or generally relaxing"

“Played on a breezy summer day, ideal weather. This RTJ Sr course was recently transformed by Kovich, an understudy of Gil Hanse. Very nicely done job, with large, undulating greens, excellent bunkering and a clean overall appearance. The course scores well on Aesthetics, Layout and Conditioning, but less so on Shot Options and Challenge. Very appropriately done transformation for a solid country club course, though not quite challenging enough for the scratch player. That said, it is likely that as the greens mature and become firmer/faster, the challenge around the greens should increase measurably. Very difficult to walk, players take cart with forecaddy. Enjoyable to play, not a must-do."

“Renovation a couple of years ago really opened up the course. Patterson has lots of different looks, uphill, downhill, doglegs right and left. The par-3s stand out now. With many trees gone, the vistas are beautiful."
