Overview
Situated within a mecca of great golf courses, Tamarack Country Club stands out as one of the finest. Built by Charles Banks in 1929, the course includes many template holes that were the trademark of Banks’ mentors, Seth Raynor and C.B Macdonald, and a few great original holes on the back nine. The course is memorable for its massive scale throughout the property, often allowing players to recover from wayward misses. Though Tamarack delivers options in where you can hit it, the brawny course makes it difficult to score if you’re not in the correct spots.

“A classic CT course designed by Charles Banks that incorporates the classic template holes into the rolling terrain effectively with some variation. Having played it recently, the conditioning has gotten better, but the removal of trees has changed the course for the worse. I think the shot options off the tee are meager at best as the strategy is unquestionably to blast driver everywhere with little penalty for missed shots. The recovery shots around the green continue to be fantastic and challenging. While I think the Biarritz and the Redan are fantastic, the Punch bowl and Road hole left some more to be desired, especially with the removal of trees on the punch bowl par 4 11th. The green complexes are really the highlight of the course, as they provide so much variation depending on pin locations. I look forward to seeing further progress with the project as it appears additional bunker work will commence this fall."

“Private course where a tremendous amount of work was done clearing trees making the course more manageable to play. Design variety make it a fun course to play. Large greens and huge bunkers make it a bit challenging but course in excellent shape. Problem is NO driving range to speak of. Would make an effort to play this course."
