“A Robert Trent Jones Sr. private design located along Connecticut's eastern coastline, Black Hall is on the shorter side but compensates with a very tight, tree-lined design. The course is gradually removing trees, but they remain a hindrance to both shot options and conditioning, and there are limited ways to play each hole. Take for example, the 1st hole with a giant tree just short left of the green that forces the golfer to the right on their teeshot. The course features a large number of doglegs around these trees, and an overall very solid group of greens usually flanked by bunkers. Overall it is a strong test given how tight it is with many elevated greens, but I found the course a bit overrated at 16th in state."
