Overview
Set against the backdrop of the Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction, Redlands Mesa is a must-play for its topography alone. Rocky outcroppings line nearly every hole, and some tees play high above the fairway, providing scenic vistas of the surrounding lunar-like landscape. The Jim Engh design was formerly ranked on our list of 100 Greatest Public Courses, reaching as high as No. 17 from 2005-’08.

“This course is placed in a place that is so spectacular, you really have to be there to see it. It’s almost next to the Colorado monument, the Redlands Mesa in the background of the back nine are as spectacular and different as a course can be from another course. It really is the definition of the new ranking of character… what a setting…. The aesthetics are only 7.5 because the front nine has homes on it for the most part - really nice tasteful homes but still a neighborhood nonetheless - but the back nine is off the charts."

“Golf Course cut into mountain topography taking advantage of elevation changes and stunning red rock formations. Good variety of uphill and downhill holes. Doglegs holes both L to R and R to L, on both Par 4's and Par 5's. Very few trees on the golf course, but very well bunkered requiring strategic thought off the Tee. Quite a few risk reward holes off the Tee requiring some thought as to laying up and where to, as opposed to taking more aggressive lines. Greens very large and undulating with quite a bit of elevation changes either front to back or side to side. Given the size of the greens, there were many different hole opportunities making pin locations vary from relatively easy to tournament tough. Course was well bunkered (some were quite deep) around the greens as well as many rock outcroppings that did impact approach shots. Greens were challenging given their size and the amount of slope."

“A real gem a little off the beaten path. If you pass through Grand Junction and have a few hours to burn, this course is worth a stop. Stunning views from almost every hole. The bowl-shaped greens complexes on many holes helps even off-target approach shots find the green. Not country club quality conditions, but very fun course to play."
