Overview
Breckenridge Golf Club, about an hour-and-a-half west of Denver, offers three Jack Nicklaus-designed nines. The Bear and Beaver nines first opened in the 1980s, followed by the Elk in 2001. Set in the heart of the Colorado Rockies at over 9,300 feet elevation, the three nines present a blend of tree-lined, wooded holes and others that are more open and play among native grasslands.

“Playing from the back tees a must. Typical of Nicklaus, a fade off the tee is required. Only one hole on this rotation would suggest a draw. Green complexes are solid, as are the par 3s. Par 5s are good risk reward holes. Tough but rewarding walk. Beautiful views. Another Nicklaus staple- the tee boxes set you in poor directions. Beaver was rerouted years ago and now ends with a par 3. Its a good hole, but its not near the club house. A little strange."

“This is a rating for the Beaver/Bear 18 holes. Conditioning was very good. greens firm and smooth and fairways were semi firm with reasonable roll. Beaver 9 has more up and downhill shots with a good layout variety. Bear 9 is more in a valley but still provided good shot options. Good variety of distances and layouts for the par 3's. Beautifull mountain setting I would recommend for places to play. Staff in pro shop and outside services were extremely friendly and accommodating."
