“This course has an 'old world feel', with very artful bunkering."

“North Ranch Country Club Located in Westlake Village, CA This private 27 hole facility was Originally designed by Ted Robinson, Sr., 1975 The Valley and Oaks nines were redesigned by Jackson Kahn Design, 2024 Both nines were re-grassed, bunkers were added and reconfigured, greens were completely redesigned with more undulations Greens surrounds are closely mown allowing multiple shot options The areas adjacent to the fairways are mulch instead of rough. The course is challenging as it plays firm and fast and the slopes in the fairways can often run off into barrancas."

“The course is in very good condition. Very consistent fairways, bunkers, greens. Their challenge is a lack of land to really produce some good golf holes. And there is not a lot of variety. It's a nice golf course but not a high ranking golf course."

“This evaluation was for the two new nine hole courses, Valley nine and Oaks nine. Other than the 9th hole on the Valley nine, a much improved course with better turf, playable stategic bunkers and green complexes from the mid seventies Ted Robinson design. Greens contours sometimes don't match the length of approach shot required. Slopes off fairways can be a tad treacherous, requiring a precise tee shot. Course condition was famtastic, firm fast tif 2 fairways, firm greens and playable consistant bunkers."

“Played Oaks/Valley rotation. Can’t figure out what the designer of the redo was thinking on at least four holes. Virtually no place to hit a tee ball that allows any manageable shot into the green. Oaks #1 prime example. A few green complexes don’t agree with the difficulty of the hole. Not sure how a 25 handicapper would enjoy the layout. Very scenic and extremely well conditioned. A course for a single digit player. Very much a target course."

“Recently renovated with slight modification to the routing (#10 Oaks). Most of the work done was rebuilding of the greens, which are now quite severe compared to before. The new greens are much larger than the originals with multiple levels, drop offs and if fast can produce putts that are near impossible. The biggest positive to the new greens are they have created multiple pin locations. By virtue of the new greens the course can be set up to be fair to the members, but Tournament tough for "player" events. Overall, the routing is basically the same and continues to be a very tough driving course with Oak Trees, slanted fairways (fast bermuda cut tight) and bunkers creating challenges off the Tee as well as getting into the proper position for upcoming approach shots. The course is well and strategically bunkered both off the tee and around the greens making the golfer plan both Tee shots and approach shots. The greens were excellent (a little firm), fairly fast and rolled very well. Given some time to mature (both the Fairways and the Greens) the golf course should become a more playable, especially off the Tee."
