“Firm and fast are the rules here. Short iron shots struck well will hold but most times it is best to run it on. Good variety of short and long holes. Changes direction often. Par 3's play to all compass points. Feels so natural in a pristine setting. Wide fairways with a number of centered bunkers or drainage to add choices. Would love to see it again after they have established their agronomy for the rough. Extra uniqueness is the open air shower area after the round."

“A very close look and feel of playing a Scottish links course in the U.S."

“One of the most minimalist golf projects in the USA. Coore & Crenshaw did a great job creating an ode to the golf of the UK here. A unique feature is that it is Zoysia all over, tee to green. When firm, the greens bounce wonderfully. It sits in a secluded valley, with nothing but sheep to keep you company. There is lots of risk/reward to be found, the course constantly asks you to choose a side for the best angle or shorter route. Overall, a truly unique course in the USA and one of the most imaginative modern courses I've seen recently."

“Brambles is a very unique golf experience in North America, and if I did not know any better I would certainly have assumed that the course is located in a remote part of Scotland. The conditioning is extremely firm tee to green, encouraging ground game throughout, yet the greens are maintained at an intentionally slow pace to accommodate increased shaping and contours, as well as prevalence of wind. The routing incorporates the natural features of the expansive site well for a true variety in layout, including to present blind tee shots, to offer risk / reward for play to or away from a creek, and to provide ground slope shots. The challenge is consistently offering the risk / reward option from tee to green through wide contours, as well as control of the ball into the greens. Enjoyable to play but there is enough room for error for strong players to play more aggressively throughout the round. Quaint clubhouse visible through much of the property that is just steps from the 1st tee and 18th green."

“Very fun, interesting, and unique layout. Reasonably interesting shot choices throughout the round for better players, yet ample room for the less skilled. Fun green complexes that reward good shots, but allow recoveries. I played it when the weather was comfortable - high of 80 - the course probably gets extremely hot in the summer. Will be interesting to see how this course matures in the next couple of years."

“Great new course by Coore & Crenshaw. The course plays hard and fast to amazing greens. A caddie is of great help on the greens. They have planted heather on the outside of the fairways which should grow in by next year. The course will be much tougher then, as the fairways are not as wide as most Coore/Crenshaw designs. There are not many bunkers, but the ones that are there are extremely tough and deep. There is a very cool vibe at the club, with a small clubhouse and eating area. I was told that they might have some outside play available next year for high dollars. Solid design variety with some awesome approach shots. Can't wait to see this course get even better. Close to the Napa Valley which would really add to someone's trip."

“A very unique links style course north of Napa. Extremely interesting green complexes that demand precise approach shots if you fly the ball to the green; however, you can also play the ground game on your approaches.. Once the heather grows in, it will demand much more precise tee shots. A number of burns, similiar to English golf, run throughout the course that are both dry and wet that will penalize you. A limited amount of sand bunkers but have a number of grass bunkers and moguls for protection. A real gem."
