Overview
You may recognize the name as the home club of PGA club pro Michael Block, who finished 15th in the 2023 PGA Championship. Once you play the course, you'll realize it’s no wonder he has game. Trabuco Creek plays as a lateral hazard on seven holes and on-course lakes come into play on three holes but worry not: five sets of tees allow you to play anywhere from 5,045 yards to just over 7,000 from the tips.

“Generic routing through a narrow canyon. Somewhat repetitive green complexes - with some steep contours for such a windy corridor. One good aspect is the course runs firm and fast, with no rough anywhere. However, players who tend to spray the ball better bring multiple sleeves."

“Casey tends to get a lot of commissions on challenging properties and this is no exception. His office is a short distance away, which might have been the reason he took this on. The course is routed up and back a windy canyon along a deep culvert. The green complexes are repetitive on the front side - a sort of modified Redan to get the water to drain into the arroyo four times in a row. The new bunkering has flashes of creative placement, but the putting surfaces in such a windy corridor tend to be overly steep with little contouring interest. All in all, a forgettable experience EXCEPT the conditioning is firm and fast with no real rough. The greens have been converted to bent - but I am certain they will never be able to keep out the poa on this public course. I guess my overriding impression is Arroyo Trabuco is an otherwise generic offering, jammed in and around a narrow canyon. The new practice putting green is expansive and actually quite a bit more interesting than the green complexes themselves. I guess in short, this golf course is not in danger of cracking any Best Of list. Not bad, but not worth a return visit to study further."

“Very nice public course with lots of variety, good greens, and very good bunkering. Not walkable but the flow doesn't distract from the enjoyment. Definitely one of the better daily fee golf courses in So. Calif."

“Unique SoCal course in that you are very close to the 5 freeway and busy residential areas yet the property is virtually totally secluded with no homes on it. Rugged terrain making walking impossible yet the movement between holes is not too disruptive. Lehman did an excellent job producing varied holes and approaches with excellent strategic bunkering in the fairways and at the greens making for a very pleasing visual. He includes some classic elements with a very nice Redan par 3, a good cape hole, and a great short uphill par 4, and uses a centerline bunker and split fairway on other holes to maintain interest. The greens, although well placed were rather mundane with mostly straight putts required. All and all, for public golf this is a very good course and one that you could feel good about playing frequently."

“New bunkering are excellent. Sight lines are playable with exception to a few holes on the back 9 where targeting is key. The beginning and ending of the course are its best."

“2/20/25- Very fun golf course; meanders around canyons and provides a lot of shot making on the 2nd nine. Last two holes average but the other holes provide a variety of strategic decisions off the tee. Bunkers recently all redone ---- GREAT CONDITION. Greens and fairways are excellent too. With the canyons on each hole (mostly 2nd nine), placing of your tee shots and approach shots are paramount. Overall, a fun and challenging golf course especially from the back tees which is where you really want to play this course."

“This is a fun, playable, links style course in a serene, pastoral setting. The thoughtfully placed bunkers and sloping fairways require distance control or accuracy to have the best opportunity to score and gives a healthy dose of risk reward. The holes are beautifully framed by the terrain and every hole played differently from the previous ones."
