Overview
Nestled against a pristine lake just outside Mobile, Steelwood was designed by 1976 U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate. Despite the flat topography of the region, Pate created numerous elevation changes and fairway undulations to challenge players. The course opens with several holes along Steelwood Lake and then heads into a more heavily wooded area before returning to the lakeside to close.

Review
“If you get the chance to play Steelwood CC, you've got to take advantage of the opportunity. It's truly a hidden gem off the beaten path and one of the better courses in the state. The course has numerous scenic holes around Steelwood Lake, while the remainder twist and turn through the tall pines. It's a challenging, but fair test of golf with some really cool green complexes and elevation changes."

“Don’t pass up a chance to play Steelwood. Lots of doglegs and gentle ups and downs lead the golfer to the challenging green complexes. Fall off areas to the sides and backs of the greens are to be avoided."
