Available Friday at 10AM at Nike and Golf Galaxy

Air Jordan golf shoes tend to sell out almost instantaneously. The legendary silhouettes attract both golf and sneaker fans, who will do anything to secure a pair. The Air Jordan XII Low “Taxi” golf shoe, which is releasing Friday, March 11 at 10 a.m. ET, will likely be no exception. The street shoe version of the Air Jordan XII originally hit shelves in 1996 when its signature black-and-white color combination inspired sneakerheads to refer to it as the “Taxi.” Designed by the iconic Tinker Hatfield, the minimalist styling of the monochromatic shoe stuck out among the masses of colorful basketball shoes on the market at that time. The minimalist look makes it especially suitable for a golf-shoe remix and it has already been seen on tour players like Harold Varner III and Pat Perez. The golf shoe will be available on the Nike website and at Golf Galaxy, for the select few that click fast enough.

The Air Jordan XII Low golf shoe features two textures—cushioned white leather and black faux-reptile leather—on the exterior of the shoe. Gold accents on the lace loops and heel tabs compliment the neutral colors and a pebbled finish on the leather upper give it a refined finish. Michael Jordan’s signature “23” is featured on the back heel along with the Jumpman logo. Originally, the “Taxi” came in five different colorways. The black and red model was worn when Jordan dominated in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA finals. After the incredible performance, Jordan revealed he was battling food poisoning, and it was later pegged as the “Flu Game.”

The golf-version of the shoe has a lower profile collar than the original basketball shoe. Performance wise, the Air Jordan XII Lows have a gripped, spiked outsole, as well as a full-length Zoom Air Unit that gives this shoe spring. A carbon fiber heel clip provides stability in the swing, and the seven spikes are removable.
