Hot List Gold 2022

Our Review:

WHAT IT DOES: The three premium drivers in the PXG family accommodate a range of player types. The shallow-face XT maximizes clubhead speed with an aerodynamically sleeker shape. The large-face XF helps mis-hits with a deep front-to-back frame. The X’s sloping crown lowers the center of gravity for less spin. All benefit from a fast-flexing, weight-saving titanium alloy in the face that makes room for adjustable weight ports in the sole. Two are centered—one forward and one back—and a third is toward the heel. Moving the heaviest weight to the back adds forgiveness, moving it up front reduces spin and in the heel enhances draw spin and makes it easier to square the face.

WHY WE LIKE IT: You might not be into Las Vegas Raiders colors, but that silver patch on the crown is a special aluminum-injected carbon composite that adds stiffness to the top while reducing weight. This helps push the CG lower so that golfers can launch the ball higher. Sandwiching the composite between the titanium heel and toe sections of the crown also stiffens the crown so that more areas propel the ball more efficiently.

WHICH ONE'S FOR ME?

0811X: The aluminum vapor-infused carbon-composite panel in the crown both saves weight and works with the surrounding titanium to direct more energy into the face. A sloping crown lowers the center of gravity for less spin. The 0811X has the tallest face but coupled with the sloped crown creates a high-launch/low-spin performance (generally the lower-spinning of the three models).

0811XF: The large face (longer heel to toe) creates more impact area, and it helps mis-hits along with its deep front-to-back frame. Its lower side profile helps redistribute more weight to the perimeter for increased forgiveness. It will generally launch it higher.

0811XT: The fast-flexing, weight-saving titanium alloy in the face makes room for adjustable weight ports in the sole. The shallow-faced XT maximizes clubhead speed with an aerodynamically sleeker shape. Its flatter crown, more parallel to the sole, is designed to reduce drag and increase speed and largely was built to maximize ball speed for players who swing faster than 105 mph. Read more >>

Player Comments
Low-Handicapper

"So much carry. The feel is a mix of soft and hot, and I like that it's kind of against the current tinny, metally sounding trend."

Mid-Handicapper

"The gray patch on the crown is a bit jarring, but the ball flies off the face like a rocket. I couldn’t tell if I had missed the center of the face on any shots because it was so forgiving."

High-Handicapper

"Performance is good enough to make up for appearance. Powerful. Easy to hit straight. Turns over when wanted. Perfect blend of distance and accuracy."
