Zach Johnson -- and his family -- bid a sad goodbye to the claret jug

TROON, Scotland — What's the worst part about winning a piece of golf history? Having to return it. Such is the situation Zach Johnson found himself in at Royal Troon this week when he had to hand back the claret jug he claimed at St. Andrews last year.

Not surprisingly, ZJ has grown quite attached to the shiny artifact. Apparently, so has his family:

Aww. And here was Johnson officially giving back the #Jug at Royal Troon on Monday:

"Not pleasant," Johnson said of the exchange.

Of course, there are plenty of great memories from the past year, including the time ZJ ate corn from the claret jug and when he got to bring it to an Iowa football game.

Think happy thoughts, Zach. And buy a replica, if you haven't already.
