OAKMONT, Pa. -- Rory McIlroy returned to a conventional putting grip at the Memorial, a switch that paid immediate dividends: The four-time major winner had his best performance on the greens in his professional career.
The newfound confidence is one of the reasons many are expecting McIlroy to compete for this year's U.S. Open title. A conviction that likely grew after McIlroy drained an 80-foot putt on Oakmont's notorious greens during a practice round.
