Remember when Scripps National Spelling Bee Co-Champion Jairam Hathwar listed Jordan Spieth as his hero? And remember when the two-time major champ in golf invited the 13-year-old to meet him at a golf tournament? Well, that hang session occurred earlier this week at Bethpage Black ahead of the Barclays -- and it produced an entertaining result.
Spieth took on Hathwar, a New York native, in a spelling/putting competition with the emphasis on spelling. You can probably guess how this one turned out:
Spieth didn't spell any of his words right, but he made a valiant attempt on "triskaidekaphobia." And he was certainly a good sport as Hathwar nailed his three words easily -- including "drahthaar," one of the words he got wrong in the spelling bee -- and then made a two-foot putt for the win.
The best part? When Jordan asked Jairam to use the word "logorrhea" in a sentence.
"He talked to his golf ball so much that we thought he suffered from logorrhea," Jairam replied.
Boom. Roasted.
