Last week, the European Tour released an entertaining video in which three foursomes representing different countries attempted to break the Guinness World Record for fastest hole. Team France wound up crushing the mark by making a birdie in just 34.8 seconds. But Bubba Watson, along with caddie Ted Scott and manager Randall Wells, has already broken the new record. With an eagle, no less.
There's just one caveat. While Watson's team technically used a 503-yard hole (for it to be official, a 500-yard hole has to be used) at Genzon Golf Club, it was one in which Watson was able to cut down considerably by taking an outrageous line over the water. Nevertheless, the threesome pulls off a three -- and it only took them 23 seconds. Have a look:
Unlike with the European Tour, there was no official judge on hand from the Guinness Book of World Records, but there is video proof. Now it just comes down to a ruling regarding the yardage. We suspect Team France's record is safe, but it's still a brilliant effort by Bubba's crew. Who knew his manager had such a great short game?
Watson is in China this week for the Shenzhen International. He only managed a 71 in the first round (Ironically, Alexander Levy, one of the Frenchmen who broke the speed record, leads), but between some awkward pre-tournament photos, a humorous "mud ball" video with Kiradech Aphibarnrat, and a potential world record, we'd say his latest week abroad is already a success.
