Even when he doesn't win -- or finish -- a golf tournament, Tiger Woods has a way of making a splash. His 2012 PGA Tour season started at Pebble Beach, where his final-round 75 was as much of the story as Phil Mickelson's 64. Then came the Honda Classic, where Rory McIlroy won to move to No. 1 in the world, but it was Tiger's closing 62 that had the golf world abuzz over the return of the 14-time major winner to top form.
All that excitement turned to doubt, though, with Woods withdrawing from the WGC-Cadillac Championship on the 12th hole of Sunday's round. Woods released a statement after in which he said he "felt tightness in my left Achilles warming up this morning, and it continued to get progressively worse."
But even with Woods driving away from Doral, the rest of the tournament finished up. And it had plenty of excitement in its own right. Justin Rose held on for a one-shot win to pick up his fourth career PGA Tour title, but he had to survive runs by Rory McIlroy and dodge a huge bullet on the TPC Blue Monster's brutal 18th hole when 54-hole leader Bubba Watson missed a good chance at birdie.
