USGA considering another marquee Open pairing

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Mike Davis, the USGA's Senior Director of Rules and Competitions, said Saturday he is close to finalizing his top pairing for the first two rounds of next month's U.S. Open at Bethpage Black in New York.

Davis is leaning toward putting defending champion Tiger Woods with British and PGA champion Padraig Harrington. The third member of the group would have been reigning U.S. Amateur champion Danny Lee, but he recently turned professional. Davis said the obvious replacement is Masters champion Angel Cabrera.
