Tough day for the Byron Nelson

None of the news on Tuesday was good for the HP Byron Nelson Championship. First came the report that its sponsor, Hewlett-Packard Co., will cut 9,000 jobs. This was followed by news that the Four Seasons Resort at which the tournament is held was foreclosed.

Neither development is expected to affect the tournament, however. HP's contract with the PGA Tour runs through 2014, while the Dallas Business Journal wrote this regarding the Four Seasons: "He [George Roddy, president of Foreclosure Listing Service] said generally when a property of this nature goes into foreclosure or is taken over by the lender, it generally doesn't effect the hotel operations. In many cases, 'operations continue as usual,' he said."
