'Tiger Woods for 2011 Commence Speaker'

So says a headline in the Stanford Daily today. The writer, Jordan Carr, is lobbying the university to have Tiger Woods, a former student (but not a graduate) give the commencement address at graduation ceremonies this year.

"United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold. President Herbert Hoover. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren. Oprah. These names are among the many power players who have given commencement addresses to graduating seniors at Stanford.

"And it is time to add one more name to that list-the most famous, successful living Stanford man: Eldrick Tont 'Tiger' Woods."

The tone of the column suggests that Carr is being facetious.

At any rate, commencement is on Sunday, June 12. Woods will be in full preparation mode for the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club the following Thursday.
