The U.S. Amateur finalist who signs his name backwards

Bryson DeChambeau, who has advanced to the final of the U.S. Amateur on Sunday, is a physics major at SMU and one of the more cerebral elite golfers. For instance, he has concluded it’s advantageous to use irons that are all the same length, 37 ½ inches.

But here’s why we really like him: He can sign his autograph backwards. Here’s the proof:

After defeating Sean Crocker, 4 and 3, to advance to the final, he said, “I know how to write my name backwards and left-handed in cursive and I can sign it pretty well. So that's something that I may do in the future, kind of unique -- definitely unique, obviously, but I think it sets me apart.”

DeChambeau, who missed the cut in the U.S. Open, will face Derek Bard in the 36-hole final Sunday at Olympia Fields.
